Gerrit van Honthorst — Christ before the High Priest (about 1617)
Painted around 1617 by the Dutch artist Gerrit van Honthorst during his years in Rome, where his mastery of nocturnal candlelit scenes earned him the nickname Gherardo della Notte, Gerard of the Night. The whole composition is built around a single candle flame, which lights the faces of Christ and his interrogator and leaves the rest in deep shadow. The painting hangs today in the National Gallery, London. The image is sourced from a public-domain photograph on Wikimedia Commons.
Set onto the wallet from a public-domain file, the candlelit scene carried across the face, its dark ground reading as the body of the wallet. Vegan leather MagSafe wallet. Holds two cards, black or white.
