The Wedding at Cana - MagSafe Wallet
Paolo Veronese — The Wedding at Cana (1563)
Painted for the refectory of the Benedictine monastery of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, close to seven metres tall and ten wide, the largest painting in the Louvre. Christ's first miracle staged as an enormous contemporary Venetian banquet, over a hundred figures deep. In 1797 Napoleon's soldiers cut the canvas down and rolled it around a cylinder to ship it to France as war booty; it was later judged too fragile to return and hangs today in the Salle des États, directly across from the Mona Lisa.
